Cradle Coast Strings Outreach

Lynne Price created the concept and miraculously secured funding for a strings program for school children in the Cradle Coast area. Following the success of the 2007 Taster program for the Stringalong state school project at Havenview Primary School in Burnie, and with a grant from the Tasmanian Community Fund for continuation of the program for 3 years, Margaret travelled to Burnie each Thursday of the school term.

The success of this program can be measured by the increasing number of students and schools joining in. Havenview Primary School was soon joined by Parklands High School, then Brooklyn Primary, Acton Primary and Upper Burnie Primary School. Thins got complicated when there was an amalgamation of schools, but the Stringalong program continued.

Stringalong supporters have included:

  • Tasmanian Community Fund
  • Burnie City Council
  • Australian Bulk Minerals
  • Rotary Club of Burnie
  • Tasmanian Regional Arts
  • Cradle Coast string players including Dr Bruce Watson & My Guy Dean
  • School Principals and David turner, Music Teacher
  • Teacher students, including Alanna Smith, David turner, Jeanette Jensen and Emma-Jane Sukier
  • Luthier Maria Perez-Pulido

"Without Margaret 's masterly skills in group tuition, tireless enthusiasm and boundless energy, this prgramme could not succeed. We are all very grateful for her dedication, commitment and driving endurance".
